Here is a short list of reliable web sites for nursing and health information.

Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention (CDC)
Federal agency with a vast amount of information on public health, disease, disability and related topics.
National Center for Health Statistics
NCHS is the principal health statistics agency of the U.S. that compiles statistical information on all facets of health.
National Institutes of Health
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and is the nation's medical research agency.
National Student Nurses' Association
The NSNA is dedicated to supporting nursing education and promoting the nursing profession.
Nursing World
This site is published by the American Nursing Association and has information about becoming a nurse, ethics, and news about the profession.
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
The U.S. government's agency for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services.

Using Google Advanced Search

With Google Advanced Search, you can limit the kinds of websites Google pulls up. Under the "Narrow your results by ..." heading, look for the "site or domain" field. Here's an example:

Enter ".edu" into the "site or domain" field. Now type the search terms you've selected for your topic into the "all these words" field (under "Find pages with..." at the top of the screen). Hit the blue "Advanced Search" button at the bottom of the screen. Your search results will appear - and you'll notice all the websites have .edu as a domain!

Limiting your search results to websites ending with .edu or .org will help you find more reliable sources. However, you are still responsible for determining the authority, accuracy, objectivity, and currency of your source!
